How to Create a Container

A container record tells EMERGE how much weight and volume a shipping container can carry. These records appear in the container dropdown of the Loading Container window, where your shipments are checked against them.

Where to find it

There are two ways to open the container management window:

  • Settings > General Setup > Container. The number under the button is how many containers you have.

  • From the Loading Container window: open the container dropdown and choose Add New.

The container window

The window has a list of containers on the left (Name, Max Weight, Max CBM, actions) and a form on the right. Use the Manage button at the bottom left to show or hide the list.

Any notes for your team.

Weight is always in kg and volume in m³. Check your container's specifications and enter its capacity figures in those units.

Create a container

  1. Open the container window.

  2. Fill in Name, Max Weight and Max CBM (and Description if you like).

  3. Click Create New.

A success message appears and the form clears, ready for the next container.

Edit a container

  1. Click the container's name, weight, CBM or the pencil icon in the list.

  2. Its details load into the form. Change what you need.

  3. Click Save.

If you've edited the form and click a different container, EMERGE asks whether to leave your unsaved changes. Choose Cancel to stay on the current container.

Delete a container

  1. Click the red X on the container's row.

  2. Confirm the prompt.

Tips

  • If you leave a required field empty, a message asks you to complete it.

  • Changes are available straight away. The Loading Container window reads the container list each time it opens.

  • Max CBM in the list follows your CBM Decimal Places system setting.
